that's all I know

“And that’s all I know.” As he finished telling his story, which took far longer than it should have, because he was too distracted looking into her eyes, he realized that there was now a huge burden off his chest. A feeling of weightlessness. Having been able to share parts of it with someone, especially her, had really helped unburden him some. And he hadn’t told her all he knew. He felt guilty about that small lie. But he wasn’t sure if she could handle it. No, that wasn’t it. There was something else. Something that was bothering him. He shook it off, later, he would realize that she hadn’t seen the purple stone standing by them. She hadn’t commented on it. She hadn’t noticed it. Nothing. For now, he was blinded by her. He couldn’t stop looking into her eyes, with a longing, a pure hunger, as if she was all he had been looking for his entire life. None of the rest of this journey mattered anymore but that it had led him to her. Led him here. He couldn’t stop looking at her. She noticed. With a wry smile, she asked, “what?” He shook his head. Then impulsively, he hugged her. Digging his face into her shoulder and sobbing his heart out. She too, began to cry. Together they cried. It was a beautiful moment. Afterwards, they didn’t need to, he didn’t need to, she didn’t need to, explain why they had cried. They each just knew why the other had. The chemistry and understanding was profound. She kissed him on the lips, and swept away by the passion, they lay with lips on each other, for hours. Everything else just faded away. Afterwards, he would wonder how it would have been different had they moved. But in that moment, there were no regrets. Everything was rosy. The world was beautiful. The shadow rajah might be searching for them but that didn’t matter. Nothing did. Just that they were here. In each other’s arms. When their lips parted, he felt like it had only been seconds. He looked at his watch. Almost three hours. He burst out laughing. And kissed her again and again. Hugged her close. Never wanting to let go. Afraid of what might happen if he did. The world was so uncertain. He had found his person. And he didn’t want that to change. The dusk was approaching. Birds were clamoring in the air as they struggled to get home. The darkness was drawing ever nearer. The stone was and had been silent for a while. Hur didn’t notice, entranced as he was by who he could only assume was his soulmate. The ground, cold and stone, felt warm, her hands felt like they had been made for his. Her smile melted his heart. He could taste electricity in the air. Could feel the ground shaking as the two had finally met. Thunder above, as Zeus, spurned by a human meeting its other half, raged.
