Freedom under the Lights

This was one of the few places they could be real. Could break loose and have fun. One of the few places it was okay to be them. Yes, some people werent having fun, and it seemed like others were here for different reasons, but she wasnt. Her best friend wasnt. The club was loud, and one song would end abruptly, but the next would begin without it feeling like an awkward end. And there were so many that made her nostalgic, so many that brought back memories. She would scream, hands up in the air, her body swaying in pleasure. It felt good to be able to, she was not outside these four walls. Girls were always taught to be careful about what they did, what they said, how they moved, who they moved to. Here, it was okay, here she was free. Of all the captivity from the world outside. When she first started going to these, she had needed to be under the influence to be able to break free from the chains and shackles of society. But soon, she had not needed that aid. Here she was free, here she could let loose. As she danced under the dim spotlights flashing around, as her heart thumped to the beat of the music, she was happy. She was free.
